Soliel sang out into the warming spring air, the sun warm on his long white fur, his wings fluttering in the breeze. He squinted ahead of him, his soft gray eyes making out the faintest sight of a great, white mountain in the distance.
Home!
“Woohooohooo!”
He looped once in the sky before correcting himself onto a steady path. He had flown swiftly ahead of his brothers, wanting to escape Crispin’s ever cautious eyes. Sometimes he just needed to lighten up. And Chic really was too fond of himself. Well, he couldn’t dodge bugs forever, one of them was bound to smack him in the face eventually. Soliel knew he’d eaten his fair share of butterflies already. He gave one more heavy downward thrust with his wings, propelling his light body frame upwards before folding his wings to his back and free falling, nose first, towards a mass of trees below him . . .
Suddenly a scent intruded his senses and he jerked his wings out, catching himself before he could fall any further. What in blazes was that . . .smell? He wrinkled his nose and snorted, a shiver running through his body as he slowly regained altitude. He looked behind him for a moment, and then began to circle the air as he stalled, waiting for his brothers to catch up.
This was, without a doubt, Blood Fang territory. Or at least, it sure smelled like it.
He grumbled to himself as he waited for his brothers, growing more and more impatient, until finally he circled once more and swooped low, pulling his legs in as he stretched his wings out to their full extent, letting him soar slowly over the tree tops of the woods below him. He breathed slowly, the scent not only nauseating but also a rueful reminder of a past he would rather not remember right now . . . not when they were so close to home. He looked above him, where the thick clouds hid the flight path of his brothers. He sighed, wanting to investigate more but knowing that if he didn’t come back into their line of scent at least, Crispin would probably freak and Soleil would receive another lecture.
Again.
He arced up and pumped his wings, speedily reaching the clouds again, the warm rush of air washing the scent of Heus hide from his nose. He wondered how many there were . . . and if he would be able to sneak attack them before they got to Sun Crest . . .

Crispin closed his eyes as he floated along, his wings extended far to the sides of him. He took a deep breath, grumbling slightly as he heard his younger brother’s yell of excitement ahead of them. This would be a more happy reunion, he thought, if they knew they had something to return to. What if there were no wolves in Sun Crest? No more Sasriels around except them? He sighed and pumped his wings a little harder, trying to get enough speed to catch up with Soleil.
“If that knot head goes off missing one more time . . .” he grumbled to Chic. He didn’t know if his older brother was listening or not. It was windy this far up – it may simply just be harder to hear. He huffed and angled into a slight dip, clearing his harsh voice before calling out. “Soliel!”
But his voice was lost in the wind.
Coming out of the cloud bank, Crispin squinted against the sun, blue eyes twinkling. He didn’t see his brother but the sight he did see stole his breath. Out ahead of them, rising out of a gold touched mist, was the mountain he had, once long ago, called home. For a startling moment, happiness bubbled up inside of him and he smiled. He took a deep breath . . .
And nearly choked.
“What the . . . Soliel where did you lead us to? Soleil!”
He knew Chic or him should have lead . . .
He yelped in surprise when his younger brother came bolting up in front of him. He looked at him wildly and then scrutinized him. He circled his brother once in effort to regain a steady air flow and looked over his shoulder to see if Chic had followed.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” he said, his voice raspy. “And where exactly have you lead us?”

Akki was alive!
Not that the fact was unexpected, but Burgeon brought out her spirit that often lay dormant in Winters cold grasp. The life around her buzzed with the sunlight that created warmth. Blessed warmth! Though Akki loved the power of the cold, she could not survive in it long, and she was forced to watch the season pass by from the safety of her den. Burgeon changed that. With the warm weather she was able to leave the dark of her Dens and explore the world outside.
The ground under her paws was still damp from the melted snow, and in the shade of the trees a few patches of winter still hung onto life. Akki rubbed her nose across the ground, inhaling the beautiful smell of Burgeon's life. She lay there for a second, her tail thumping a happy and steady beat. The world around her was alive again, and so was she.
Akki bounded playfully to her paws, dancing in the cool air. Momentarily lost in the glory of life she playfully chased her tail, spinning puppy-like in circles, yapping. From the corner of her eye she saw a fox. An excited yip escaped her mouth and she chased him vigorously, slowing after a few moments as her sore leg protested the speed. Stopping completely Akki breathed deeply, a smile across her face.
"Woohooohooo!”
Akki tilted her head, before looking straight up into the sky. That was strange... Had she actually heard something? Or someone? The voice (if indeed it had been a voice) was very faint... And directly above her. She scanned the skies, looking for something to give her a clue of the owner of the excited voice.
A small shadow flickered across the clouds... Tilting her head Akki began a slow run, face pointed straight up to the sky.
Who was there?

Vithali sighed and sat down, panting hard. She had just run at least two miles, trying to escape the claws of a suddenly very angry cougar mother. How did she know that the kill had been claimed? You couldn’t see the big cats for all it was worth. And being Vithali’s height, she was at a severe disadvantage . . . But she was certain now that she had safely escaped those deadly claws. She shuddered and stood up again, looking about her, wanting water but not sure where to look.
She had headed the direction Grhym had told her . . . and then got completely and utterly lost. She hated being lost. She liked it better when she was just heading in a random direction of her choice.
She touched her nose to the ground, smelling the earth. There was without a doubt other wolves about . . . odd ones at that. This scent was very new and obscure to her. She wondered where she had wandered into . . .
Well, no better way to find out than to explore!
She stuck her nose to the ground, her momentary panic and run forgotten as she trotted curiously around the territory. She grinned as she loped along the soft earth, picking her oversize paws up high so as not to trip. Vithali made a random trail around the trees, leaping easily over logs when she suddenly paused, a creepy feeling spreading up the back of her spine. She looked around her. Even though Burgeon had begun, these woods seemed so . . . dark . . . Maybe she should go back . . .
She turned around and backed up. She could even begin to see where she had come from. She tried tentavily sniffing the air but her scent was lost with mustiness of the place she had ended up at. Her ears flipped back to the side of her head and she lowered her small body to the ground, taking small steps back.
“You’re okay, Vithali . . . just a creepy forest . . . it isn’t . . . going . . . to . . . hurt you . . .”
Her paw suddenly snagged on something and she stumbled with a quiet whine, pulling at her hind leg.
Out, out, out! Her mind screamed relentlessly.
Finally the root snapped and she went flying and scrambling in a mass of leaves and soil, slipping on the still wet patches. She bolted through the forest, now thoroughly lost. She dodged trees, leaped over logs and through bushes . . . Running, running . . . At one point, she tripped again and took a nosedive into the earth. She stumbled up, dizzy, seeing spots.
“Ow . . .” she brushed her paw, across her nose, wincing when she saw blood stain the fur on her paw.
She lowered her head and gazed cautiously around her. She really wasn’t liking this at all . . .

Mercy stood back in the shadows, as usual, hating the on come of Burgeon with about every fiber of her body. Wretched excuse of a season anyway. She was in a rather crabby mood and she had avoided her two pack members as much as she could, especially Akki, who had seemed to be rather jovial. It made sense that Akki and Halspar would be happy about the beginning of Burgeon; they were Heus. It was growing warm.
What Mercy hated was the female part about it all. The scent that grew on her, the emotions that bubbled up inside her, unseen by her pack mates because she chose to keep herself closed down to them. Thankfully there was only one male in the pack, and she knew Akki would let him touch her, not that Halspar really seemed to be much of an annoyance . . . especially with her avoiding him.
She sighed heavily and quietly picked her way through the trees, more at ease with the forestland now. Her long graceful body slank through the dark shadows, her paws quiet, her figure quickly moving though the uneven earth. She had skirted several times to the edge of the territory, wondering when she should move out and play the game she had mapped out in her head. She need to make “allies” and others that she could befriend. She need to comfort them, gain their pity, then their trust. She would gather what Akki wanted to know, and then add her own punches when she saw the opportunity too, when it wouldn’t hinder her or blow her cover.
Suddenly, Mercy stopped and flicked her ears back and forth. She thought she had heard something . . . shuffling, whining. There was a soft, new scent that she couldn’t place.
An intruder.
She slank back, hiding herself in thick bushes. The last thing she needed as for a non-Heus wolf to see her. That would be disastrous. She watched as a small female stumbled along, obviously frightened. Mercy laid low, her eyes slitted as she watched the antics of this small, puppy like ball of fur. She thought fast, knowing that if the runt didn’t get off Heus land, she should do something about it. She could actually persuade the loner, perhaps, and . . . “help” . . . her. The truly desperate and frightened often gave in easier to the soothing words of a stranger. This could be a one shot chance she could receive again.
Suddenly the female began to run noisily through the forest and Mercy took an out of the way path, keeping herself quietly behind her, but still keeping the small female in her sight.
This had opportunity written all over it.

Chic flew a little behind his brothers, for the moment enjoying the strong wind blasting through his fur. The thick cloud cover below him blocked out the ground far below them, temporarily diminishing his phobia. He could feel the sun weakly warming him, no match for the mighty power of the wind this far above the ground.
Chicken was getting tired. Though probably the strongest of his brothers, sustained flight was tiresome, and Chics bulk made him the perfect candidate for the cross winds to catch against. The morning had been a little blustery, more than now. But they were almost there. Equis's gentlemen were so close to their home that Chicken could already smell the sweet tang of his mountain home.
He took a deep breath... And gaged. From below a rancid scent attacked his nose, causing him to pause in his flight foreword. He watched his brother free fall down, exploring... Chic was immediately nervous. Soliel could take care of himself, but Chicken knew only too well what lay below them now. It was a smell he was completely familiar with, a smell that usually signaled death...
"Blood Fang."
Soliel burst out of the clouds in front of them. Chic growled deep in his chest, chastising his brother for his recklessness. Memories of his dead brothers and battles gone by had worked its magic on Chickens usual personality, making him overly serious. The look in his eye was one that gave no room for games. "Come baby brothers... We need to get out of here. We have strayed too close to where we should not be... Lets go."

((OOC: Just a note for everyone: I got permission from Vithali to God Mode her character. So don't freak out on me. )) Halspar grumbled as he made his way through the forest, the scent of Akki and Mercy driving him to the brink of insanity. Curse his bloody male instincts. Regardless, the warmth of Burgeon returning gave him a small bit of happiness that had not been there during Shadow. The snow melting through the trees, dripping on his dark skin, made him remember that warmer days were surely coming. The snow and the cold were over. All he had to do was get through this particular part of the season and he would be back to his normal self. He stopped as he spotted Mercy up ahead. He growled low in his throat. If it weren’t for Akki he would have killed that wretched half-breed by now . . . He was about to turn when he heard a whimper. It wasn’t Mercy’s; she hardly ever made a sound. He turned back and found that Mercy’s bright orbs were trained on something farther from her and quickly, he spotted it to. A small, red female was crashing her way through the undergrowth, obviously frightened. She looked like an overgrown pup. He smiled cruelly and stocked forward, forgetting about Mercy as the small wolf began running forward. He couldn’t see Mercy any more, not that was anything new, so he took this opportunity to show this intruder a thing or two about trespassing on Heus land . . . Halspar leaped ahead, shoulders hunched as he gracelessly plowed through the forest, muscles rippling as he ran. The forest undergrowth tripped her up multiple times, giving him a chance to catch up with her. Finally, he took a chance and landed in front of her as she fell once more, struggling. A savage grin spread on drooling maw, large, saber like teeth bared bright in the dull sunlight. He snapped in her face and was delighted when she emitted a shrill scream. What he wasn’t expecting was for her swipe her oversized paw across the side of his face. Slowly turning, he growled and narrowed his eyes as she darted past him. Red streaks appeared brightly on the side of his face, his skin burning from her claws. She would pay for that. He began to run harder now, snapping branches, leaping over logs, breaking through bushes . . . She had immerged into an open grove. To his left he could barely see Akki, his focus all for the small female in front of him. At one point he caught her ankle and she stumbled down onto her back and he leapt, a tremendous snarl rising from his chest. As he went for her throat, he could see the sheer terror on her face, hear her scream echoing in his ears. This would be a pleasant success.

Soliel rolled his eyes as Crispin caught him first and began talking. Big brothers . . . always so . . . big brothery . . . He smirked at Crispin’s comment and flew around him.
“Isn’t it obvious? We’re in the land of pixies and fairies!”
He turned around as Chic approached and sighed as he chastised him too. Jeesh, did they have to be on him about everything? He snorted. Baby brothers . . . just because he was several minutes older didn’t mean a thing. With a sigh and the happy thoughts of home, he decided that there would be no dive-bombing of the Heus today. Oh well, there would be another opportunity, he was sure . . .
Suddenly a cry filled his ears and he winced, causing his wing to go off balance and into one of his brothers. He looked down through the clouds, squinting, but couldn’t make out anything. He gave a devil-may-care grin to his brothers. They would know that look.
“I do think this calls for our attention, gentlemen.” He winked at Chic. “Brains before beauty!”
And without waiting for any of their comments, he folded his wings to his body and let himself freefall, angling himself towards the place where he heard the cry. Another one followed it and he drifted course only slightly, suddenly coming into full view of the situation.
A snarl appeared on his muzzle as soon as he saw the gruesome sight of a Heus; new anger surged in him. Instinct and months of experience took over.
This thing was going to die.
“Hey boar-face!” he shouted, finally letting his wings out slightly so as not to crash and burn.
He extended his front paws out, hoping to catch the big brute in mid leap, his neck extended as aimed his teeth for the big brute’s throat.

Crispin looked hardly amused at his brother’s response to his question but left it alone. He sighed contentedly as Chic came up to them, also giving his younger brother a few words before stating that they should leave. Crispin nodded in agreement and was about to turn and leave when he heard a deafening scream. His attention caught, he peered through the clouds. That didn’t sound good . . .
He looked up as Soliel gave that ever so famous grin and his face soured.
“Wait . . . Soliel . . .!”
But it was too late. The runt had already entered “dive-bomb” mode and was now free falling towards the earth. He sighed. They would talk about this later. With a nod to Chic, he dived too, pumping his wings, preparing himself for whatever sight met him. He left the cloud bank behind and snarled viciously at the sight of Heus attacking a small, red female. Seeing as Soliel already had first dibs on the brute, it seemed, he turned to the side, angling himself towards the female. She looked young and very frightened. Without a word, he reached to grab her by the scruff of her neck, hoping that the draft of his wings would pull them both backwards.
Breathing heavy, he scanned the sky for his other brother.
“Come on, Chic . . .”

((OOC: I have permission to God mode Chicken))
"Mercy..."
Akki's nose was assaulted by the smell of another female, Burgeon affecting them both. Akki scanned the underbrush, her attention diverted from the skies for a moment. She could not see her spy, the elusive Mercy... "There!" Akki spotted the female, carefully hidden and watching... Someone else. Immediately Akki turned her attention to someone she had not noticed before...
The small female crashed around, obviously lost and a little terrified. Akki was content for her to remain so. The female had not called for Akki, and was probably not looking for the pack. She would have announced her entrance had that been the case... Mercy would remain hidden, and Akki would not announce her presence. This was easier, who knew to whom the female would report. The other packs did not need to know of the Heus presence just yet...
Halspar, who had been avoiding Akki for most of the week, crashed out the brush near her. He was intent to kill. "Fool! You idiot!" Akki snarled under her breath, quickly following him. He would not have this wolf's blood on his head! Who knew to what pack she belonged? She would kill Halspar herself if he had brought down the wrath of the she-wolfs alpha.
Halspar and his prey were faster than Akki, and she struggled to keep up. Only when the little female fell, screaming, did Akki finally catch up. She brought herself to a halt by ramming her full strength into Halspars side, hoping to knock him away from the red stranger.
"Halspar you-!"
Akki's words were cut off as a wolf came crashing out of the sky, focused on Halspar. Akki immediately went on the defensive, crouched low, avoiding the wings of the Sasriel. He was headed directly for Halspar, intent to kill her underling. Growling low Akki snapped out from her pose, reaching for a wing, hoping to pull the male away from Halspar.
A second Sasriel followed the first, this one moving to the little red female. "Let him..." If this Sasriel kept his attention on the female he would be of no danger to them. The she wolf was distraught, and needed care. Akki returned her attention to the first male, intent to save Halspar from his own foolish mistakes. She was ready to attack again, waiting for the opportunity.
With a growl a heavy weight crashed into Akki from above, knocking her off her feet. This wolf did not break for the ground, landing his full weight on Akki's back. He tucked his wings in and rolled away off of Akki's back. She struggled to her feet, momentarily weakened by the pain of the wolf landing. He took the opportunity and snapped at her face, missing by inches as she jerked away. Akki growled low and swiped out at the male with a heavy paw, cacheting his side with a heavy blow.
"Soliel! Crispin! Get out of here!" The wolf who was attacking Akki ordered the other two away in a deep voice, his full attention on Akki...
"Halspar!" Akki barked her order in a voice that tolerated nothing, and promised trouble for Halspar. "Get your stupid hide out of here before I leave you to these winged rats!" The male in front of her made to advance, simply circling. Akki mirrored his movements, ready for his attack.

When Vithali tripped and fell to her back, her heart rate sped up to the point where the only sound in her ears was rushing blood. She shrunk in on herself as she saw the hideous demon from the forest leaping over her and time seemed to slow down.
I’m going to die . . .
I’m going to die . . .
I’m going to die . . .
She closed her eyes tightly, curling her tail tightly underneath her. Oh she hoped it come quickly . . . she had never experienced death before. Was it scary? Would it hurt her? What happened after she died?
“Hey boar-face!”
Confused, she peeked through half-open eyes and was bewildered to see a large, white winged wolf plow into the black, skin demon . . . thing. She was too stunned to move but that didn’t matter; she screamed in surprise as she felt someone grip the scruff of her neck and drag her back. Shaking, she scrambled to her feet, propping herself another one of the winged wolves, surprised when another came barreling out of the sky. She had never seen wolves like these but at least they weren’t trying to kill her.
She pressed herself closer to the wolf that had drug her away, trembling, her ears laid back. She didn’t care who he was; he had just became her rescuer; of that she was certain.

Mercy pulled up short as Halspar plunged after her. She growled low and flattened herself against the earth, hoping she wasn’t seen. That idiot! All because the young fae had guts enough to claw his ugly mug . . . she snorted and edged closer to the forest, blue eyes scanning the field. She couldn’t believe it; he was going to kill the female. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Mercy . . . but no. He had to ruin everything. She snarled lowly again; he would get an earful later, and she was never much for talk . . .
She watched him leap, hearing her Alphess’s words toward Halspar as he did so, and then all of a sudden, Akki’s words were cut short and Mercy slunk back once more. Spiraling out of the sky was a cousin of sorts, a Sasriel . . . her cursed bloodline. She flicked her ears back and stuck to the shadows of the trees, pacing, and thinking of how the outcome of this would be. That Sasriel was intent to kill . . . another one had arrived and pulled the female to safety. Another one arrived soon after and had Akki on target. Defending her pack mates would be out of the question; Akki would understand that. She slank quietly along the tree line, slowly, weighing her options.
On second thought, maybe she could make this work in her favor. Akki and the Sasriel were circling one another and Mercy paused, focusing her intense gaze on Akki, hoping to catch her attention for merely a second. When she thought she had it, she mouthed “Trust me” and slipped back into the trees. She quickly roughed up her perfect coat, scratched her muzzle and bit her own paw, drawing blood. Satisfied, she turned and gimped after Akki and the Sasriel. She tripped as she pushed herself into a run, making her look weaker than she really was. She leaped in front of Akki with a very believable snarl, fur rising on her neck, her blue eyes flashing with a hidden demon that not been released in many months.
“I’m not longer your captive!” she snapped. “I’d stand down if I were you, beast, you are well outnumbered! You can assume this to be the last time you mess with this half-breed . . .”
She stood firmly beside the Sasriel, her eyes locked boldly with Akki’s. No emotion besides hate was etched on her features, but she knew the Alphess would know her ploy. She would be back . . . and she would back with information.
After all, what better way than to make allies with their greatest enemies?

Chic's brothers plummeted out of the skies, leaving Chic alone for a moment to gather his thoughts. Taking a deep breath Chic muttered a curse under his breath, accompanied by the prelude "And so it begins." With that Chic began a tight spiral down through the cloud cover. Chic met the sight of the ground with a brief moment of panic, unable to see his brothers through the ground cover.
Nearly instantly he registered the situation. Soliel was being his usual boisterous self, tormenting an agitated looking hulk of a Heus male. Crispin had found the source of the scream, and was seeing to the small red female from which it had originated. Soliel, through fighting well against the male alone was out numbered, a second Heus having taken up the offensive against him.
Chic hesitated a moment, the prospect of a fighting a female a little... disorienting. Ten feet in the air Chic closed his wings, falling on top of the female who was attacking Soliel. This was a move he had perfected on his brothers, rolling quickly off of the Heus's back. He snapped at her, teeth missing her face by inches. With a hefty Thud one of the Heus's paws connected with Chic's side, leaving him breathless for a moment.
"Soliel! Crispin! Get out of here!"
Chic backed off, slowly circling the female. After moving a few feet Chic stopped, the female and male Heus now both in his sight, and not at his back. A rustle from behind him caused Chic to jump, "More?" Glancing quickly back he was met with the sight of a battered female, beautiful even in her current state. Fresh wounds marked her body, and she looked like she had a score to settle.
"I am no longer you captive!"
Chic took a step back, now standing even with the female. He extended one wing partially, protecting her and guiding her with a slight pressure from his wing. "Come now dearie. Will leave these mites be." He winked at the female Heus, "Not everyday you get to fight such a stunning specimen of a wolf, right my sweet? Better not forget it soon."
Trusting his brothers to follow his orders Chicken turned and ran, keeping stride with the wounded female. "Right then, pet. Best get you home."

Halspar let out a huff as something hit full force in mid jump and he crashed heavily to the ground, only to have jaws at his throat seconds later. When his vision cleared, he saw the thing that he detested most in this world . . .
A Sasriel!
A ragged snarl escaped his chest and he pulled his thick, hind legs up underneath to push the winged rat off of him. He tucked and rolled, snapping at the rather happy Sasriel who seemed to dance around him. Each lunge he took was a miss, his throat ached and his face bounded with pain from the deep wounds he had received. His pride was also slightly damaged by the boar-faced comment that he would not easly forget. This pup would learn!
He turned slightly to see that another Sasriel had come. He growled as he drug away the female, his prize, his prey, but he stopped in his fight when he heard the voice of another Sasriel, and his Alphess telling him to leave the scene. He growled, taking on last swipe at the boisterous male before doing as she ordered. The tone her voice was something he was already something he didn’t want to deal with.
“You best watch your back, you blasted rat!” he snapped.
Before the male could think of dive-bombing him again, Halspar lunged towards the trees, tail between his legs to show his Alphess that he was minding her and not simply running from the fight. Once he reached the cover of the forest, he saw Mercy straight away . . . and then was surprised when she bolted out of the forest. He was about to call out but stopped himself. What was that bloody half-breed doing now?
He growled when she leaped and turned against Akki. His first thought was “traitor!” but then he paused and held himself back.
This better be one of her ploys she kept promising to do.
It sickened him to watch so turned and barged back through the forest, blood dribbling down his face in a rather gruesome pool, drying on his dark skin. d**n Sasriels would pay . . .

“Haha! Rat? Is that all you got you worthless piece of sh-”
He leaped into the air when he heard his brother’s voice. He hadn’t realized there were two Heus. He spun out of the male’s way, successful in his attempt to anger him. He circled around over Crispin, watching as a black female emerged from the forest land. Who was she? But he would find out later, he supposed. Already Chic was turning to run with the black fae beside him. She was beautiful, and she looked as though she had a bone to pick with Akki.
However, Soliel was unable to resist just at least one more stab . . .
He sped towards her, wings outstretched, his devil-may-care grin spread wide as he sharply pushed himself up, inches away from her, hoping that the base of his wing caught her head before he speedily gained altitude. Once in the air, he looked down, cackling.
With another heave, he flew out over the land again, calmly searching for any sign of his brothers.
“Rescue mission complete!” he called out to no one. “Sasriels, 1! Boar-faces, zip!”
((OOC: Soliel is gone now too!))
