General Outlook: Sasriel wolves are most commonly seen as tall, elegant creatures with nimble bodies, long legs, delicate features and graceful movements. Their pelts are most commonly a clean white, though it is also common to see a Sasriel with gray or black "splashes" on their feet, face, and or backs. A rarer coat combination is what is called "silver backed" where the wolf has a like coating of gray everywhere except the head, feet, and stomach. It is also fairly common to see wolves with black tail tips as well. Eye colors range from light gray to a deep, almost black blue. These wolves usually stand around 3-4 feet at the shoulder.
Perhaps the most unique feature these creatures hold are their wings and their ability to fly quite freely. Their wings are constructed of soft feathers, commonly matching their coat, and are very strong. Wingspans often spread out to about 8 feet, from wing tip to wing tip.
It is very rare that a Sasriel wolf will appear angry or threatened. In fact, the Sasriel wolves are considered guardians and loyal allies or friends by other wolves. Sasriels have taken this status with high heads and have since developed into loyal guardians of other wolves. They are known to be gentle and forgiving, being there to talk to whenever they are needed. They are most often a comforting presence to strangers and charges alike. But this gentle demeanor does not mention the merciless protector the lies underneath.
If a Sasriel is sent to a pack to help watch over it for a certain amount of time, they would willingly give their lives to defend it and these wolves are not brought down easy. They can appear to very brutal and harsh in a fight to defend those that are depending on them and will fight with every ounce of strength they have for as long as they can. Some say it is like watching an angel turn into a demon when they are defending their charges.
Sasriel's are very proud wolves, though some say that they tend to be a little to arrogant at times. . .
Longevity: Sasriels generally live anywhere from 15 to 20 years old.
Pack Life: These wolves hardly ever leave their pack, unless they are sent out to scout or guard a pack, which they would do willingly and packs range from 10 to 30 wolves or more in a pack. Otherwise, pack life is very normal for these wolves. They hunt together, socialize, and depend on one another whole heartedly. And unless sent there to protect, a Sasriel wolf will not join a pack that is not fully composed of Sasriel wolves. Likewise, a Sasriel pack will not accept a pack member that is not a full blooded Sasriel wolf, though they will offer other wolves sanctuary in their lands. Any hybrid wolves that are born into a Sasriel pack are raised to an independent age and are then sent out of the land to find a pack of their own.
Rankings are also different per Sasriel pack (see Sun Crest pack information). Challenges for higher positions are uncommon though not unheard of and are usually handled in a less aggressive way than most packs handle it. The challenger must first prove them self a capable leader and then, both challenger and challenged will stand together while the pack decides which one they feel is more fitted for the position. Tooth and claw fights are extremely rare among the Sasriel wolves. They are very loyal and accepting of each other.
Family groups within the pack are also very common with Sasriel wolves. Most wolves will have mates and their own pups (if the pack can afford to have more mouths to feed) and will have their own family groups within the pack. This is the main cause as to why Sasriel wolf packs end up being so large. Females generally have 4 to 7 pups per litter.
A note on hybrids: Hybrid Sasriels, those that are half Sasriel and half another type of wolf, are noticeably different from a full blooded Sasriels. Half-breeds, if they are born with wings, are not able to use their wings for much more than soaring short distances. Their pelts can be any color, but traditionally take the color from the non-Sasriel parent. Hybrids are also much smaller than a Sasriel wolf and usually don't inherit the "goody-two-shoes" personality Sasriels are so known for.
