About the Pack: There is a saying among the Outland wolves; "It is not the size of the pack in the fight, but the size of the fight in the pack." Their pack is usually the smallest by far, considering their territory is rather small, but if you are accepted into their pack, you will find that no other pack is as well adept at fighting as this one. From pup-hood, these wolves are trained, disciplined, and tested, tests that may seem brutal but are worth it in the end. These wolves are also very respectful and self-disciplined, also being very proud and patriotic of their own pack.
However, unlike other packs, they seem to take any human artifacts that sweep up onto shore as a gained help. Their training fields usually consist of a dozen man made things thrust crudely together so as to work their pups a littler harder; a mountain of crates for example, teaches pups to climb as well as agility as they learn how to maneuver without it tumbling over. In that respect, the pack banishes anything superstitious.
In this pack, gender plays a big part. Females are revered in the pack as life bringers and care givers and are given just as much as respect as the alphas. Though females are not thought of as petty or weak, they are not expected to fight in battles though they are allowed to. All males, from five months of age, are taken out by Mentors to start training. Female pups can to, if their mothers will allow them, or they can wait until they are a year old. Though, it is said that females must work a little harder to prove themselves . . .
Outland wolves are known as "mysterious" by other packs, including Sun Crest and Blood Fang. They don't make themselves known with other packs and have usually stayed out of Blood Fang's scheming plots to turn the packs against themselves. For the first few years, the worried River Wood, whom they neighbored, but River Wood soon found that save for the two sentries that stood watch at the border, they never saw any trouble with the pack. Though, this never did seem to ease suspicion with Amber Moor, whom thought River Wood was foolish not to think that the Outland Pack was up to something.
Common Diet: Considering where they live, it is mostly a seafood diet, though rabbits and a few deer are common on their territory.
Ranking System:
Alpha(ess): (Max. 2; one male and/or one female; 2 years or older) The leaders of the group. They take part in every decision and are fiercely loyal to their position. To challenge an alpha or alphess is to assume the whole pack is backing you up . . . that, and you can fight better than they can . . .
Beta: (Max. 2; one male and/or one female; 2 years or older) The betas are second in command and deserve just as much respect. Hand picked by the alpha, they are usually the most trusted. If an alpha is down, they take their place. These wolves often oversee pack needs, as the alpha is often very busy.
Elder: (0+; any gender; 8 years or older) Any wolves who have grown to old to defend or fight anymore and are given the luxury to spend their days in comfort, sometimes assisting the alpha with knowledge or telling old war stories to anxious pups. (Note: Elders cannot join outside of the pack, the wolf must have grown old within the pack.)
Pups and Faes: (0+; All pups younger than 5 months and pack females that do not choose to become apart of the elite, including mothers) The second largest bulk; the Outland pack holds pups and females in very high respect and thus, they keep them safely out of harms way. Females, unlike males, get the liberty to choose whether or not to be part of the elite, though if they do, it seems they have to prove themselves a little more than the males. Females are free to go on hunts and scouting trips, however, and are not confined to the southern half of the terra.
Head of Elite: (1; Commonly male, though females allowed; 2 years or older) The Head is responsible for the entire Elite group. They decide who should go where, what plan to make, and are usually intelligent, senior wolves who have been in it awhile. They are known for quick decisions and clear devotion to their alpha.
Elite: ( 5+; Commonly male, though females allowed; 2 years or older) These make up the bulk of the pack and have no one role. As ordered by their Head, a few may go hunting while two others stand as border guardians. Some of the younger ones may also become pup-sitters or guardians for females and pups when times are looking bleak and the back up is needed just in case. These wolves are quick on their feet and respond instantly to the call of duty.
Mentors: (1+; Commonly male, though females allowed; 3 years or older) These are the best of the best of the elite and as such, are chosen to aid in teaching the pups good sparring techniques. They also take over when the Head isn't available and will usually run at the head of the Elite, behind the Head, in battle. They are known for tough attitudes and no-nonsense minds.
Yearlings: (0+; Commonly male, though females allowed; 1 year olds only) These are the youths fresh out of puppy hood, ready to start the more rigorous training made for their age group. They thought they had it bad when they were younger . . . this is the part of their life where reality knocks on their hot aired heads . . .
Younglings: (0+; Commonly male, though females allowed; 5 months to 1 year) All male pups start training at five months old and are given valuable education. They may think its harsh and brutal, but they soon learn a great amount of respect and pride. Female pups may choose whether or not to join.
Omega: (0+; any gender; 1 year or older) This is any wolf who has a poor rank with the entire pack. Everyone rises above him/her and as a result, the wolf either shapes up and earns respect or leaves the pack and is never allowed to return.
