Character's Name: Rahiel (nick names include Rah and Rahi)
Age: 5 years
Gender: Female
Species: Sasriel
Physical Description: Standing at 4 and half feet at the shoulder, Rahiel is a traditional Sasriel. Her long, nimble legs seem to simply glide as she walks, silvery claws elegantly sharp and silent as she takes each step. Her hide is undoubtedly white, a small bit of gray speckling her face like a full set of freckles. Her fur is longer than average, a sign that her family has lived in the Mountains for a long while, growing used to the cold. Her eyes are a deep blue, piercing when need be and calming otherwise. Her features are small, delicate, giving her a vulnerable, innocent appearance.
Her wings, however, seem to give away some of her past. Long, white feathers spread out from a tattered cluster, her wing span stretching close to seven feet in length, somewhat smaller than what most others have. But her wings seem to have been torn and scarred, perhaps even broken at one time in her life as they do not seem to spread as gracefully as they should. She tries to keep them folded up most of the time, so ugly and grotesque they seem, but keeping them folded up for to long starts to pain her. It is obvious she doesn’t fly to often, only short distances or to stretch and strengthen her wings.
Rahiel comes off looking like a motherly type, combined with her vulnerability and innocence, and she may very well be. Others do not seem afraid to approach her and have in fact, stayed around her, feeling the need to protect her (as is common with Sasriel personalities).
Personality: Contrary to her physical outlook, Rahiel is actually very able to take care of herself. Though she may not have physical strength or intimidating demeanor, she is quick and quiet on her feet, depending more on stealth than on strength. She also likes to spend time by herself, though she wasn’t always like that. Since a certain point in her life, she has seemingly closed up and can come off as emotionless, leading others to believe that she really is just a vulnerable, innocent, scared female. She is anything but naïve
But she is far from being either. Her thoughts and observations have given her the tools to really understanding what is going on around her, and from this, she was become very good at reading others emotions, if terrible at understanding her own. She has an iron will and if she sets her mind to something, becomes very stubborn about it, sometimes to the point of obsession. She loves her pack and would give anything for them, her past instilling a sense of duty and devotion into her mind. But due to other past events, she is protecting a guarded heart and has convinced herself to remain mate-less, giving all of her loyalties to her pack alone.
Those that do get to break her well constructed shell, however, will find a sharp tongued, slightly spunky female underneath, a mere hint as to who she was before, remnants of a past wolf who no longer exists. She does have some dry sarcasm from time to time when it seems appropriate, as well as a commanding, confident tone that strike fear in or encourage others who listen to her. Once you get to know her, she seems to have an air of dignity and respect around her, as well as a patient attitude. She also particularly fond of pups, giving some indication that she is rather motherly after all and is in fact very nurturing. She likes to leap head first into what she is most afraid of, trying to overcome any fears she might have
However, she seems to be one who is very secretive and is unwilling to share much information about her past, what happened to her, or even if something is wrong with her at the moment. If she is afraid, she tries not to let others see, feeling that she is to strong for that. She also seems to see through the stereotype that all Sasriels are “pure.”
Pack: Sun Crest
Rank: Alpha Female
Other: Rahiel wont admit it, but she has a terror of flying, which is the main reason of her lack of wing use (the other reason being because it hurts her to fly.) She has grown to rely less and less on her wings, seeing them as a luxury that has become far too over used. She is also a fan of sea food, though has seem to lost interest in waiting down by the sea in the past few months . . . She also tends to have a strange clingy-ness to wolves that call her by her nickname, almost as if they have connected with some past memory.
History: Rahiel was born in Sun Crest to a Beta pair of the pack. She had three other brothers and one other sister, Rahiel being the youngest, though she was anything but a runt. Life was good, plentiful and she grew up as any normal Sasriel pup would. She was confident and full of dignity, perhaps a little to proud as a pup, and often spent her days dreaming on her back as the warm sun warmed her belly. Life had been so good.
But this was also around the same time the current Blood Fang alphas started becoming more vicious and random with their attacks. Sun Crest was sending out more and more guardians, trying to keep the packs from destroying themselves and others. It was the middle of summer, meaning that this was the Blood Fang pack’s highest moment of glory. River Wood was split into two and Amber Moore was loosing members, no thanks to the Outland pack that remained mysterious and elusive on their small patch of land. Blood Fang was gaining a larger and larger mass of members from both of the packs, and soon Sun Crest wasn’t even enough to help. Most of the entire Sasriel pack was gone and soon, the Alphas had sent out their Beta pair, Rahiel’s parents.
At seven months old, she suddenly found herself with only her siblings to keep her company. The Heus wolves had even been so bold as to start raiding in Sun Crest territory, creating a massive chaotic war that killed a great amount of Sasriel and Heus. It seemed that the respected boundary had been crossed.
It was a heaven sent blessing when winter came. Packs reformed, the dead were buried, survivors were found and restored back to health, but Rahiel discovered that she had suddenly become parentless. Not sure how to take death, she turned to the Alphess, who offered her and her siblings a home.
A couple years passed with the same feuding going on, but nothing as horrid had happened again. The packs grew stronger and even Outland wolves began emerging. Rahiel had mourned her parents and went on with life, a spunky, sharp witted fae who won the heart of all those around her. And as the adopted daughter of the Alpha’s, it seemed she attracted even more males than anyone could imagine. By the time she was three years old, she was certain she had found a mate. He had promised her everything, wooed her into believing that fairy tales existed, and even vowed to give his life for her.
That summer came with a strange scent on the wind. Fires had been struck in various places and the Blood Fang pack was being run on with strong jaws and iron fangs; the Alphas were even considered far too brutal by the pack members. Rahiel was anxious, knowing that with a small pack, she might be sent to guard one of the other packs or the wolves in the loner territory. Sure enough, she was sent with her chosen mate and another one of her brothers to River Wind. It had been an unbelievable amount of honor she felt to guard and feel needed and she watched over them all with a fierce eye. It wasn’t long, though, that a spy had been found in the pack and had led the Blood Fang wolves in. Rahiel had fought back with so much malicious ferocity that she had almost scared herself, but she fought and fought well, relying heavily on her wings to swing her out of the way of danger . . . which had been a mistake from the beginning. She had been torn down instantly, fangs sinking into her wings, her neck, her legs . . . she had struggled helplessly, sure she was going to die. But her brother had been there in an instant and she regained her feet again, her wings broken and useless, as well as numb. She was dizzy from loss of blood and grew sick with shock the next instant later when she watched her beloved brother die before her eyes . . .
By the jaws of the one she had called her mate.
It was such a shock at first she wasn’t sure what to do. He had said he had never trusted that Sun Crest knew what they were doing and was going to be the first to join Blood Fang, and gain the power he had so long for sought. She had found out later, after the battle had been done, that he had been using her in hopes of getting into a pack, acting as her protector. He had a mate already, and pups; wolves from River Winds dark side. She had never felt so betrayed.
That autumn she had finally returned to Sun Crest, beaten and bruised, her only surviving siblings a brother and a sister. So much of the pack had been lost again, including their Alpha female. Never had Sun Crest felt so much despair and hopelessness. But their Alpha kept his head held high and he led them on, to proud to quit and to strong to admit he was afraid they wouldn’t make it another year.
Rahiel’s wings had healed oddly and they caused her constant pain. She could no longer fly with the others as she once did, finding that when she did so, she had fallen from the sky, unable to guide herself or carry herself anymore. Feeling as though her very spirit was broken, she abandoned the skies and kept her paws to the ground, watching them fly above her with a heavy heart. Another year passed quietly, strangely passive, though their Alpha was anticipating that this was just the calm before the storm.
He had been right.
That spring she had turned five years old, with only two siblings and a father like figure left, she felt a strange and uncharacteristic sense of vengeance. This summer, she would be ready- no one else was going to die. Blood Fang shouldn’t act like this, their two packs had hardly ever fought.
How bleakly that summer had turned out.
Her alpha had gone into the fray himself, taking with him what members of the pack were left, including her sister and brother. He had ordered her to stay behind with a few others to help watch over Sun Crest and help nurse the injured. However, this had turned out to be the hardest summer ever. Blood Fang had completely tripled in size.
Everyone was shocked when a massive pack marched from the Outland though, and it was perhaps their extreme fighting that had put an abrupt pause on Blood Fang’s powerful force. No one had ever seen such skill and as the Heus alphas were chased and fought out of the lands by the Outland pack, the Blood Fang pack was lost for a moment. A desolate, desperate land surrounded them and they soon followed.
That was when wolves started leaving, packs separated, to stressed and strained to accept each other or the things that had happened. Rahiel had watched those that had stayed in Sun Crest run for their lives during a raid that had taken place earlier and now found herself abandoned with dead or dying, unable to help them all, unable to accept what was happening.
The end of autumn was a lonely one, where she had ended up with two severely injured males. A fighter from Amber Moore who she wasn’t so sure was going to make it much longer, and a Sasriel hybrid that she remembered growing up with as a pup. He had been sent to Raven Wing and had stayed there ever since. He had been her only friend, her only connection with sanity. But he left quickly, giving her a boost in her confidence, saying that he could see her making a great alpha.
She carried on alone with the dying wolf on her every watch. The hybrid helped bring her food and she grew more independent each day, her memories plagued with blood and death, of abandonment and betrayal. But this only seemed to stir a fire within her and she seemed to grow, grow into a strong, level head adult that was confident enough to lead.
And who was confident enough to bring back whoever would come back, whoever was willing to start life again. She wasn’t the same, she didn’t feel that she ever would be, but she was standing.
And that was enough.
